Betting on the Fresno State Bulldogs (odds)
Record: 13-8 Overall/3-7 Conference
Fresno State fell prey to the Utah State Aggies last Saturday at home, 70-53. The struggle continues for the Bulldogs, who have now lost three games in a row and in five of their last six outings. The only win over that stretch for Fresno State, however, was a 76-63 domination of the Rebels back at home on Jan. 21. The Bulldogs shot the ball pretty well in that game, making 54.3 percent of their shots from the field and going 9/19 from deep. Leading scorer Isaiah Moore did not play in that game, but he should be available this time around after scoring 11 points in the loss to Utah State. The Buldogs will take on the Wyoming Cowboys Tuesday before preparing for the rematch versus UNLV.
Fresno State, which has a respectable defense that allows 103.5 points per 100 possessions adjusted in conference play, is 5-5 against the spread in its last 10 outings, as of this writing.
Betting on the UNLV Rebels (odds)
Record: 16-5 Overall/7-4 Conference
After losing four consecutive games, UNLV has gone 2-0 straight up with wins over the Wyoming Cowboys (86-72) and against the Nevada Wolf Pack(68-62), both at home. The Rebels hit the road for a Tuesday game against the Colorado State Rams. One thing about UNLV is that its defense shouldn’t be taken lightly even though Fresno State had success against it in the first meeting. The Rebels are No. 1 in the nation with a 13.1 defensive non-steal turnover rate and 12th in defensive steals rate. They are also allowing fewer than 70 points per game this season.
UNLV is 3-3 against the spread in its last six games as the home team.
Writer’s Prediction
UNLV wins, 69-66.
