Betting on the Syracuse Orange (+13.5)
Record: 6-0 Overall / 3-0 Conference
Syracuse’s defense has to be taken seriously. The Orange blanked the Wagner Seahawks at home in a 59-0 win a couple of weeks ago but they further proved their mettle on that end of the field in the NC State game. On the season, the Orange are ninth nationally with just 15.8 points allowed per game and 13th with 312.6 total yards surrendered per contest. Offensively, Syracuse will be looking for running back Sean Tucker to produce. Tucker rushed for 98 yards and a touchdown against the Wolfpack. Last year, he ran for 157 yards in a 17-14 home loss to Clemson.
Syracuse is 5-1 against the spread in its last six games overall.
Betting on the Clemson Tigers (-13.5)
Record: 5-0 Overall / 2-0 Conference
Clemson stayed undefeated after preventing a collapse versus the Seminoles. The Tigers had a 20-point lead at one point in that game but let that huge lead evaporate down to a single-digit cushion. Nevertheless, DJ Uiagalelei had a great game, passing for 203 yards and three touchdowns with zero interceptions on 15/23 completions. Will Shipley, meanwhile, ran for 121 yards on 20 carries. Clemson has a top-15 offense that puts up 39.2 points per game. The Tigers’ defense isn’t too shabby either despite the struggles in Week 7. They are giving up 21.0 points per game, 22nd nationally.
Clemson is 5-2 against the spread in its last seven games versus a team with a record better than .500.
Writer’s Prediction
Clemson wins, 33-20.
