Game 1 June 14, 7:05PM EST

Starters: Blake Snell (8-3, 2.30 ERA) vs. Domingo German (0-4, 5.32 ERA)

Pitching:

Blake Snell didn’t strike as many as he usually does in his last start, but he did get the job done against the Mariners at home on Jun. 9. Snell allowed only one earned run on seven hits with a strikeout in six innings of a 7-3 win vs. Seattle. The Rays are 4-1 in his last five starts. German, meanwhile, is still searching for his first win of the season, though, he collected a quality start and a no-decision in his last trip to the mound, surrendering three earned runs on five hits with nine strikeouts in six innings of a 4-3 road win over the Mets last Saturday. The Yankees are 4-1 in their last five home games against Tampa Bay.

Hitting:

  • Gary Sanchez is 4-for-10 with three homers against Snell.
  • Matt Duffy is 34-for-115 (.296) in road games this season.

Writer’s Prediction:

Yankees win, 4-3.

Game 2 June 15, 7:05PM EST

Starters: Nathan Eovaldi (1-1, 3.94 ERA) vs. Jonathan Loaisiga (0-0, 0.00 ERA)

Pitching:

Eovaldi pitches against his former team this coming Friday night, so he should be familiar in his surroundings in this game. Eovaldi is 10-4 with a 3.73 ERA in 24 career appearances (23 starts) at Yankee Stadium. The same can’t be said with Yankees starter and right-handed pitcher Jonathan Loaisiga, who is set to make his majors debut on Friday. Loaisiga went 3-1 with a 4.32 ERA in his last six starts at Double-A.

Hitting:

  • The Yankees have a collective .333 batting average against Eovaldi.

  • Matt Duffy is hitting .369 against righties this season as of this writing.

Writer’s Prediction:

Rays win, 5-4.

Game 3 June 16, 1:05PM EST

Starters: TBD vs. Luis Severino (9-2, 2.27 ERA)

Pitching:

Severino’s streak of starts without taking a loss came to an end last Sunday even though he allowed only two earned runs on five hits with seven strikeouts in five innings of action in a 2-0 road loss to the Mets. The Yankees, however, are still 10-0 in Severino’s last 10 home starts.

Hitting:

  • The Rays have a collective .226 batting average vs. Severino.

Writer’s Prediction:

Yankees win, 5-3

Game 4 June 17, 2:05PM EST

Starters: TBA vs. CC Sabathia (4-1, 3.27 ERA)

Pitching:

Sabathia tossed 5.2 innings of shutout baseball in his last start, striking out three and issuing three free passes as well while allowing four hits in a 3-0 win over the Nats at home on Tuesday. The Yankees are 8-2 in Sabathia’s last 10 starts at Yankee Stadium.

Hitting:

  • Adeiny Hechavarria is 4-for-10 with a double and a triple in his career vs. Sabathia.

Writer’s Prediction:

Yankees win, 5-2.

Writer’s Overall Series Prediction

The New York Yankees improve upon their regular season record by taking three of four games against the Tampa Bay Rays.
