Betting on the TCU Horned Frogs (odds)
Record: 10-7 Overall / 3-5 Conference
At last, the Horned Frogs finally snapped their five-game losing skid by upsetting the Oklahoma State Cowboys in an 81-78 win at home last Wednesday. The Horned Frogs shot 49.2 percent from the field, with RJ Nembhard and Mike Miles leading the way. Nembhard had 20 points, while Miles chipped in 18 more for a TCU team that’s been shooting well of late. Before the win over the Cowboys, TCU lost to the Missouri Tigers in the Big 12-SEC Challenge over the weekend, but not before making 54.9 percent of their shots from the floor. The Horned Frogs have seemingly found their groove, and that should help their confidence going up against Baylor, arguably the best team in the nation. The Horned Frogs need all hands on deck in this game to avoid a repeat of their 27-49 home loss to Baylor on Jan. 9. Nembhard and Miles scored a combined output of 31 points in that game, while no other TCU player scored more than six points.
TCU is 5-1 against the spread in its last six road games.
Betting on the Baylor Bears (odds)
Record: 17-0 Overall / 9-0 Conference
Baylor took care of business on Tuesday — again. The Bears extended their win streak to start the season to 17 games after downing the Texas Longhorns in Austin on Tuesday, 83-69. Although the Bears allowed Texas to shoot over 54 percent from the field, they made sure the Longhorns would not survive this shootout. Baylor made 58.6 percent of their shots and sank 11 threes. The Bears are shooting as though the baskets are the size of Waco. They are third this season with 87.0 points per game and sixth with a 50.7 percent shooting from the field. They are also tops in the nation with an insane 43.9 3-point shooting percentage. Baylor has made an average of 12.3 3-pointers on 51.5 percent shooting over their last four games. Against TCU, the Bears went 11 of 19 from deep and held the Horned Frogs down to just 33.3 percent field goal percentage.
Baylor is 6-4 against the spread in its last 10 home games.
Writer’s Prediction
