Betting on the TCU Horned Frogs (3-0)

Point Spread: +12

TCU has started the season in impressive fashion. The Horned Frogs are a perfect 3-0 after wins over Jackson State (63-0), Arkansas (28-7), and SMU (56-36). They came just two points shy of covering against the Mustangs, which would’ve given TCU a perfect 3-0 record against the spread.

Quarterback Kenny “Trill” Hill has been a revelation in his second season for TCU. The senior is completing 75 percent of his passes for 737 yards with eight touchdowns through his first three games. The Horned Frogs have also been able to get a consistent running attack going thus far.

Based on how Hill and the Horned Frogs offense have started out the season, they should be able to put some points on the board against Oklahoma State.

The big question, which no one has yet been able to find an answer to this season, will be how they stop Cowboys quaterback Mason Rudolph and that explosive offense. The Horned Frogs secondary didn’t look entirely convincing at home against SMU, and if they’re not capable of making enough stops, they’re not leaving Stillwater with the upset.

Betting on the Oklahoma State Cowboys (3-0)

Point Spread: -12

Oklahoma State has been so dominant that they’ve hardly even had to show up during the second half of their first three games. Mason Rudolph and the Cowboys offense delivered another offensive masterclass in the first half of their 59-21 win over Pitt. Rudolph already had 423 yards and five touchdowns by halftime as the Cowboys led 49-7 at one point in the second period.

Rudolph is having a spectacular year to date. He’s completing 72 percent of his passes and has a sparkling 11:1 touchdown-to-interception ratio. Unsurprisingly, his early-season performances have sent him streaking up the Heisman Trophy rankings. He’s now priced at +300 to win the award, trailing only Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield for the best odds.

But while Rudolph and the passing game are grabbing the headlines, the Cowboys have actually been a well-balanced team. Justice Hill has provided a strong option on the ground when needed, while the defense has given up just 17.3 points per game.

It is a bit concerning that Oklahoma State hasn’t really been truly tested through three weeks, but the fact that they’ll be at home and are capable of outlasting just about any team in the country offensively should offset those concerns.

The last time Rudolph faced TCU at home, he torched them for 352 yards and five touchdowns in a 49-29 Oklahoma State win back in 2014.

Writer’s Prediction

Rudolph and Oklahoma State (-12) live up to the hype as they put up an impressive 42-28 home win over TCU.
