Betting on the Tennessee Titans (+3)
Regular Season Record: 10-4
The Titans’ offense is scorching right now. After clobbering the Detroit Lions in a 46-25 win in Week 15, the Titans have extended their 30-point streak to five games, in which they have gone 4-1 straight up. Ryan Tannehill passed for 273 yards and three touchdowns without an interception. The Titans are coming over to Lambeau Field having averaged 253.6 passing yards to go with 12 passing touchdowns and just a couple of interceptions over their last five games. Those stats sound like trouble for Green Bay’s inconsistent defense that had been walloped by Philip Rivers (3 TDs, 1 INT) in a loss to the Indianapolis Colts weeks ago. Corey Davis has been sensational this season. He turned in his fifth 100-yard game of the year last Sunday, when he finished with 110 receiving yards and a touchdown on just four catches and six targets against the Lions.
The Titans are 3-0 against the spread in their last three road games.
Betting on the Green Bay Packers (-3)
Regular Season Record: 11-3
The Packers have now won four games in a row after taking down the Carolina Panthers at home in Week 15, 24-16. However, Aaron Rodgers wasn’t too happy about that victory, especially because the Packers played well in the first half of that contest but could not sustain the energy and momentum in the second half. The Packers will be facing a much deadlier offense this coming Sunday, and Rodgers knows he’ll have to bring it against Tennessee. The Packers are third in the NFL with 31.0 points per game, fourth with 390.0 total yards per contest, and No. 1 with 3.9 touchdowns per game. If the Titans engage Green Bay in a shootout, the Packers are going to oblige. The Titans have a horrible third-down defense, which is the worst in the NFL. They are allowing opponents to convert 52.58 percent on third downs, which plays right into the Packers’ 49.09 third-down completion percentage on offense — third-best in the league.
The Packers are 6-3 against the spread in their last nine home games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Packers win, 30-27.
