Betting on the Tennessee Volunteers (3-3, 1-2 SEC)
Tennessee finally snapped its two-game losing skid with a thrilling 38-31 come-from-behind victory over No. 19 Georgia on Saturday. It was a spectacular win for the Volunteers who erased a gargantuan 21-point deficit in this game. That’s the third-largest deficit Tennessee had ever overcome in a victory.
[sc:NCAA240banner ]Leading the way for Tennesee in this upset win was Joshua Dobbs. The quarterback threw for a career-high 312 yards, ran for 118 more and accounted for five total touchdowns. He is the only Tennessee player ever to throw for 300 yards and run for 100 yards in the same game. He pulled off the same feat last year in the Volunteers’ 45-42 overtime victory against South Carolina.
With the victory, the Volunteers defeated a ranked team for just the second time in their last 30 tries. They will look to keep the momentum going this coming Saturday when they face the streaking Alabama Crimson Tide. For Tennessee to record an upset for the second game running, it needs to improve on its defensive play. The Volunteers are 87th in the FBS in total defense, surrendering 419.0 yards per game this season.
Tennessee’s defensive frailties reared its ugly head on Saturday, allowing Georgia to rack up a total of 444 yards. That kind of defensive performance simply won’t do against a high-flying Alabama attack this coming weekend. The Crimson Tide are averaging 430.1 total yards per game this season, 47th in the FBS.
The Volunteers are 3-7 SU and 4-6 ATS in their last 10 road games.

Betting on the Alabama Crimson Tide (6-1, 3-1 SEC)
The Alabama Crimson Tide stretched their unbeaten run to four games with a convincing 41-23 victory over the Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday night. Running back Derrick Henry was the star of the show for Alabama, rushing for 236 yards on 32 carries with two touchdowns. It was a fantastic performance by Henry who extended his school record by scoring in his 12th consecutive game. Such was Henry’s dominance in this game that he already surpassed his previous career-best of 148 yards rushing with still 10 minutes remaining in the second quarter.
Henry has been lights out for the Crimson Tide this season, rushing for 901 yards and scoring 12 touchdowns in Alabama’s first seven games. He is also averaging 5.93 yards per carry this campaign. His 236-yard performance against Texas A&M was his first career 200-yard game. Henry will be licking his chops at the prospect of facing a Tennessee defensive line that’s surrendering a whopping 170.5 rushing yards per game this season, 72nd in the FBS.
For the Crimson Tide to extend their winning streak against the Volunteers, they will need to continue their excellent play on the defensive end. Alabama’s defense outscored its own offensive unit on Saturday, thanks in large part to Minkah Fitzpatrick’s two interception returns for touchdowns. He became the first player in Alabama history to pull off such a defensive feat.
They will have their work cut out for them, however, against a Tennessee side that’s averaging 37.2 points per contest this season, 32nd in the entire FBS. That being said, the Crimson Tide will fancy their chances against the Volunteers as they have fared extremely well against them of late. Alabama is 8-0 in its last eight games against Tennessee. The Crimson Tide eased past the Volunteers, 34-20, in their only meeting last year.
The Seminoles are 10-0 SU and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 home games.
