Betting on the Tennessee Volunteers (ODDS)
Record: 19-4 Overall/8-2 Conference
Tennessee has already brought down the Commodores before and it is looking to do it again this Wednesday. In the first meeting with Vanderbilt, Tennessee got the job done thanks in large part to its defense. The Vols held Vandy down to only 37.9 percent shooting from the field and 22.2 percent shooting from behind the arc in a 77-68 home win on Jan. 10. Vanderbilt starters combined for just 13 points. Tennessee can do that again, considering that the Vols are No. 1 in the nation with only 54.6 points allowed per game and No. 1 as well with an opponents’ effective field goal percentage of 39.0%.
Tennessee is 4-2 against the spread in its last six outings.
Betting on the Vanderbilt Commodores (ODDS)
Record: 11-12 Overall/4-6 Conference
The Commodores have won just once in their last four games. That lone win in that span, however, was in Vanderbilt’s most recent game, so the Commodores will be coming into Wednesday’s game with some momentum, at least. Vanderbilt ended a three-game losing streak last Saturday with a 74-71 win at home against the Ole Miss Rebels. While they lost in the first showdown versus Tennessee, the Commodores gave the Volunteers quite a scare, especially in the first half which ended with Vanderbilt even up by two points. Liam Robbins made a mark in that game for Vanderbilt by scoring 18 points, grabbing seven rebounds, and swatting away three shots.
Vanderbilt is 5-5 against the spread in its last 10 games.
Writer’s Prediction
Tennessee wins, 74-60.
