For the third time this season, the Texas Longhorns and the Kansas Jayhawks will meet on the court this coming Thursday in Missouri. Texas may have a bigger bet riding on this game, as it’s not as assured of an at-large bid as the Jayhawks, but Kansas also definitely wants to advance and keep its hopes alive of winning the tournament title after failing to notch a regular season championship this year. NCAA Futures currently price the Jayhawks at +2,800 odds to win the national title, while the Longhorns are long shots at +20,000.

Betting on the Texas Longhorns (16-5 Overall / 8-10 Conference)
It’s been a disappointing season thus far for the Longhorns and their regular season ended just as frustratingly, losing to the TCU Horned Frogs at home on Saturday, 69-56. Having said that, Texas is still considered as an at-large bid team, per Joe Lunardi of ESPN. The Longhorns can’t bring the ugly offense they had in the TCU game into the matchup with Kansas. Against the Horned Frogs, Texas shot just 37.3 percent from the field and went just 4-for-21 from deep. Jase Febres, who was just named Big 12 Player of the Week a week ago, laid a big fat egg against TCU. He will have to recover his shooting touch against Kansas. He had a pair of 12-point games in the two regular season games against the Jayhawks, both while coming off the bench. With leading scorer Kerwin Roach suspended indefinitely, the Longhorns are also counting on Dylan Osetkowski to carry most of the scoring load. He is second on the team with 10.2 points per game, and had 16 in a 73-63 home win over Kansas on Jan. 29. Texas made 13 and 10 3-pointers in the last two games against Kansas, respectively.
Texas is 3-0 against the spread (ATS) in its last three games against Kansas.
Betting on the Kansas Jayhawks (23-8 Overall / 12-6 Conference)
The Jayhawks may have seen their lengthy streak of Big 12 regular season title wins, but they still managed to finish with an undefeated 16-0 SU record at Allen Fieldhouse after outlasting the Baylor Bears at home Saturday, 78-70. Junior forward Dedric Lawson showed why he’s one of the best players in the conference by scoring 23 points and pulling down 14 rebounds in 36 minutes of action. Lawson is going to be a problem for Texas, which has had a hard time slowing him down in the regular season. Lawson had 17 points in the first meeting with Texas this season and had 13 in the next. Freshman Ochai Agbaji could also be a big factor for Kansas. Agbaji only had six points against Baylor, but he went off for 24 points on 8-for-10 shooting in the loss in Austin. Kansas knows it has to take better care of the ball, as turnovers killed them in the aforementioned defeat at the hands of Texas, with the Jayhawks collecting 13 errors, though, it forced Texas to turn the ball over 12 times.
The over is 3-0 in Kansas’ last three games overall.
