New Year’s Eve — December 31

1. AdvoCare V100 Bowl: Boston College Eagles vs. Arizona Wildcats

When: December 31, 2013, 12:30 PM ET

Where: Shreveport, Louisiana

Money: Eagles (+260) vs. Wildcats (-320)

Spread: Eagles (+7.5) vs. Wildcats (-7.5)

Over/Under: 57.0

Where to watch: ESPN

Doak Walker Award and Heisman Trophy finalist Andre Williams is said to be ready to play in this game. The nation’s top rusher tweaked his shoulder in their last game against Syracuse, but he will look to add to his nation-leading 2,102 rushing yards against Arizona. Meanwhile, the Wildcats also have an explosive running back in Ka’Deem Carey, who isn’t that far behind Williams with 1,716 yards.

2. Hyundai Sun Bowl: Virginia Tech Hokies vs. UCLA Bruins

Where: El Paso, Texas

Spread: Hokies (+7) vs. Bruins (-7)

Over/Under: 47.0

Where to watch: CBS

Virginia Tech had 26 bowl appearances in its program’s history with the first one happening in 1947 in you guessed it, the Sun Bowl. The Hokies look to win it more than 60 years later against the 17th ranked, Jim Mora-coached, Bruins.

3. AutoZone Liberty Bowl: Rice Owls vs. Mississippi State Bulldogs

When: December 31, 2013, 4:00 PM ET

Where: Memphis, Tennessee

Money: Owls (+240) vs. Bulldogs (-280)

Spread: Owls (+7) vs. Bulldogs (-7)

Over/Under: 50.5

Where to watch: ESPN

The Owls are going bowling again after joining the party last season. This is the first time Rice has been bowl-eligible for two straight seasons in more than 50 years. Rice will be up against Mississippi State, a program that is no stranger to the Liberty Bowl having played in it and won in 2007.

4. Chick-fil-A Bowl: Duke Blue Devils vs. Texas A&M Aggies

When: December 31, 2013, 8:00 PM ET

Money: Blue Devils (+400) vs. Aggies (-500)

Spread: Blue Devils (+11.5) vs. Aggies (-11.5)

Over/Under: 74.5

Where to watch: ESPN

It’s not the BCS National Championship, but if this is going to be Johnny Manziel’s last game wearing an Aggies uniform, then it’s of paramount interest to him that he leaves the program on a winning note against the Blue Devils, who have been exceeding expectations throughout the season.

5. Brooklyn Nets vs. San Antonio Spurs

When: December 31, 2013, 7:00 PM ET

Where: AT&T Center, San Antonio, Texas

Money: Nets (TBA) vs. Spurs (TBA)

Spread: Nets (TBA) vs. Spurs (TBA)

Over/Under: TBA

Brooklyn was on a spending-spree back in the offseason, but found out that money can’t always buy success. The Nets are hoping to end the year on a positive note against a team that has exemplified how to run a successful team on minimal resources for a long time now.

6. Portland Trail Blazers vs. Oklahoma City Thunder

Money: Trail Blazers (TBA) vs. Thunder (TBA) [sc:Other250banner ]

Spread: Trail Blazers (TBA) vs. Thunder (TBA)

Over/Under: TBA

This game is a powder keg waiting to be lit on New Year’s Eve.  The Blazers have been proving so far that they belong in the upper tier of the NBA and they could add more backing to that claim if they can handle the Thunder on the road. Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant will sure make it a rocky affair for Portland.

Where: Tampa, Florida

Money: Hawkeyes (+250) vs. Tigers (-300)

Spread: Hawkeyes (+7) vs. Tigers (-7)

Over/Under: 49.0

Where to watch: ESPN

From 4-8 SU last season to 8-4 SU this season, it wasn’t that bad after all for the Hawkeyes as they’ll be rewarded a bowl date with Les Miles’ Tigers. LSU is looking to avenge its loss to Iowa in the 2004 Capital One Bowl.
