Toronto Argonauts vs Edmonton Eskimos Predictions, Picks, Odds, Preview – CFL Week 7 – July 25 2019

The Toronto Argonauts just want to win. They are the only remaining winless team in the CFL this season. They are rapidly sinking lower and lower in the East division, though, they still have time to recover and make a run. It will have to start soon, so expect Toronto to go all out this coming Thursday, when they visit the Edmonton Eskimos, who are also looking to bounce back from a loss.

Betting on Toronto Argonauts (0-5)

Once again, Toronto got steamrolled, as the Argonauts absorbed a 26-16 loss at the hands of the Calgary Stampeders in Week 6 on the road. It was a sorry loss for the Argonauts, who simply just couldn’t put together a consistent performance on offense. Toronto quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson threw for 343 passing yards and two touchdowns, but couldn’t help but shoot himself — and the team — in the foot with four interceptions. However, he should have an easier time locating his targets and completing passes this Thursday, as Edmonton’s passing defense isn’t as venomous as Calgary’s. The Stampeders lead the league with 12 interceptions, while Edmonton only has four. Toronto’s offense is very much tied up with its air attack, which ranks third in the league with 298.0 passing yards per game, though, errors have cost the team a lot. The Argonauts have 17 turnovers, five more than any team in the CFL at this point of the season.

The under is 3-1 in Toronto’s last four road games.

Betting on Edmonton Eskimos (3-2)

Consistency has been a problem for the Eskimos of late. After starting the season with two consecutive wins, Edmonton has lost two and won one. In their last game, the Eskimos suffered a 20-10 defeat to the Montreal Alouettes on the road. As what the score suggests, the Eskimos’ offense seemed like a ship stuck on Arctic ice. Trevor Harris was very inefficient under center in that game, as the Eskimos quarterback completed just 29 of 43 passes for 271 yards, zero touchdowns, and two interceptions. Edmonton, however, did a good job of protecting Harris, who was not sacked at all. Edmonton has the best offensive line in terms of pass protection in the league, as the Eskimos have allowed just one sack so far on the season. Conversely, the Eskimos have the best pass rush in the CFL with a league-leading 19 sacks.

Edmonton is 5-0 and 3-2 against the spread (ATS) in its last five home games against the Argonauts.

Writer’s Prediction

The Eskimos win, 31-13.
