Game 1: Thursday, July 12, 7:10 PM EST

Starters: J.A. Happ (10-5, 4.44 ERA) vs. David Price (9-6, 4.44 ERA)

Happ hasn’t been on top of his game in his past two starts. He lasted just 2.2 innings on Jul. 7 after giving up six earned runs on four hits in an 8-5 home loss to the Yankees. He has a 3-2 record and a 5.45 ERA in his last seven starts. Over at Boston’s side, the Red Sox will send Price to the mound, who allowed four earned runs on six hits but with nine strikeouts in a 15-4 road win over Kansas. In his career so far, Price is 19-3 with a 2.46 ERA vs. the Blue Jays.

Hitting

  • Steve Pearce is 10-for-28 with five homers against Happ.
  • Kendrys Morales is 7-for-29 vs. Price.

Writer’s Prediction:

Boston wins, 5-3.

Game 2 Friday, July 13, 7:10 PM EST

Starters: Ryan Borucki (0-1, 2.25 ERA) vs. Rick Porcello (11-3, 3.58 ERA)

Pitching:

Borucki is not yet a household name, but he’s trending towards that direction after recording a 2.25 ERA in his first three stats this year. In his latest outing, he limited the Yankees on only an earned run on seven hits in 7.0 innings of a 2-1 loss at home on Jul. 8. Porcello, meanwhile, will face Toronto for the third time this season. He’s gone 1-0 with a 3.29 ERA in his last two starts opposite the Blue Jays.

Hitting

  • Kevin Pillar is 10-for-42 against Porcello.

Writer’s Prediction:

Boston wins, 4-3.

Game 3 Saturday, July 14, 1:05 PM EST

Starters: Marco Estrada (4-7, 4.72 ERA) vs. Eduardo Rodriguez (11-3, 3.62 ERA)

Pitching:

Estrada seems ready to go this Saturday after exiting his last start in the first inning, after throwing just 12 pitches. Estrada is 4-8 with a 4.68 ERA in 17 total appearances (15 starts) in his career against Boston. As for the Red Sox, Rodriguez will toe the rubber for them in the third game of this series. He is 2-1 with a 2.55 ERA and 13 Ks in his last three starts. He has not allowed a run in his last two outings.

Hitting:

  • Ryan Flaherty is 3-for-11 against Estrada.
  • Kendrys Morales is 6-for-22 vs. Rodriguez.

Writer’s Prediction:

Boston wins, 6-3.

Game 4 Sunday, July 15, 1;05 PM EST

Starters: Marcus Stroman (2-6, 5.90 ERA) vs. Hector Velázquez (6-0, 2.77 ERA)

Pitching:

Stroman had probably his best performance of the year in his last start, yielding just an earned run on six hits in 7.0 innings of a 6-2 road win over Atlanta and its big bats on Jul. 10. Stroman will look to keep it going in a duel this Sunday with Velazquez. Velazquez pitched three innings in his last time on the mound, surrendering an earned run on two hits in an 8-4 home win over Texas on July 10.

Hitting:

  • Xander Bogaerts is 10-for-26 with a homer vs. Stroman.
  • Justin Smoak is 2-for-3 vs. Velazquez.

Writer’s Prediction:

Toronto wins, 5-4.
