FAVORITES
Martin Truex Jr. (+400)
Truex just bagged his second win of the season, leaving everyone behind at Martinsville last Sunday. Truex started in the seventh and led for 20 laps before capturing the victory in the 2021 Blue-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 500. Can he sustain his momentum? Let’s just say that Truex won the 2020 version of the Toyota Owners 400 and has four top 5s, including two wins in his last five races at Richmond Raceway.
Chase Elliott (+700)
Elliott has come back alive over the last couple of races. After a 38th-place finish in Atlanta, Elliott went 10th in Bristol (Dirt) and runner-up in Martinsville. He definitely should be at least part of the conversation for top drivers for the Toyota Owners 400, as Elliott has a career average finish of 12.00 at Richmond Raceway. He has finished worse than 20th just once in 10 races there and has sneaked inside the top 10 in three of his last five on that track.
Joey Logano (+800)
Logano is still hot. After winning in Bristol (Dirt), Logano collected a sixth-place campaign in Martinsville, where he led for six laps. He’s got three top 5s in seven starts this season. As for his track record at Richmond Raceway, Logano has two wins, 10 top 5s, and 13 top 10s in 23 appearances on that track. He finished third the last time he raced there, which was during the 2020 Federated Auto Parts 400.
SLEEPERS
Tyler Reddick (+6600)
Reddick has only one Cup race at Richmond Raceway under his belt, but that was a respectable 11th-place finish at the 2020 Federated Auto Parts 400. Not only that, but he’s also gone back-to-back top 10s in his last two races, finishing seventh in Bristol (Dirt) and eighth in Martinsville.
Erik Jones (+1500)
Although Jones was only 30th last week in Martinsville, he has two top 10s in his last five races. He is also looking to regain his solid form at Richmond Raceway. He had consecutive top 15 finishes there from 2017 to 2019, a total of four races, including a sixth-place finish during the 2017 Federated Auto Parts 400.
LONG SHOT
Ryan Preece (+30000)
Preece started the season with back-to-back top 9s in the two Daytona races back in February but has since failed to get back inside the top 10. In three races at Richmond Raceway so far in his career, Preece has a couple of 2oth-place performances and a 30th one.
Writer’s Prediction
Joey Logano wins the 2021 Toyota Owners 400.
