Betting on Uruguay (-215)
There’s no hiding it: Uruguay are a big disappointment in the 2016 Copa America tournament. La Celeste have gone winless in two matches so far and that includes an ugly 1-0 loss to Venezuela in which they saw their strikers miss plenty of shots.
While the complexion of their offense could’ve trended differently had Luis Suarez been on the pitch, it’s still unacceptable for Uruguay to miss 12 of their 13 shots in the Venezuela match. Uruguay are a much better team than that with or without Suarez, who has yet to play in the tournament due to an ailing hamstring.Should Suarez be unable to play against Jamaica, Uruguay will have to coax activity and production from some of their other big guns like Edinson Cavani, Nicolas Lodeiro, Diego Rolan and Carlos Sanchez.
That should be enough attacking strength for the Uruguay side against a Jamaican team that has surrendered seven goals in its past four international matches overall.
Betting on Jamaica (+435)
The Reggae Boyz are not playing sweet music in the tournament. Like Uruguay, Jamaica have lost both games heading into tonight’s match and will be looking to end their 2016 Copa America campaign at least on a winning note. But first, they have to find a way to score.
Jamaica are the only team with zero goals in Copa America. Hopefully for the Reggae Boyz, they’ll finally find the back of the net against Uruguay’s defense that has conceded four goals to opponents thus far in the tourney.
Speaking of defense, Jamaica will have their hands full against Uruguay’s lethal attackers. Of course it would be tremendous for them if Suarez ultimately won’t be able to play but the Reggae Boyz still have to contend with Cavani and others.
That sounds like pressure for Leicester City captain and Jamaica defender Wes Morgan, who’s going to have a busy night at the back tonight. Goalie Andre Blake, meanwhile, looks to show up with another strong performance. The Philadelphia Union goalkeeper had three saves against Mexico.
