Betting on the Utah Jazz (-5.5)

Regular Season Record: 52-20

After getting upset in Game 1, the Jazz have rebounded strongly in the next two games, showing Memphis why they’re the top seed in the Western Conference. The Jazz have scored lopsided wins in Games 2 and 3. They won Game 2 at home, 141-129, and Game 3 in Memphis, 121-111. Utah’s offense is clicking and its defense is making the stops when it matters the most. The duo of Donovan Mitchell and Mike Conley came up big in Game 3, with the former scoring 299 points and the latter 27. The good thing with Utah is that the team is getting points from top to bottom of their roster. Bojan Bogdanovic, Royce O’Neale, and of course, Jordan Clarkson, are always there to keep the offense going for Utah. Joe Ingles only had three points in Game 3, but he’s always a threat from long distance, and that’s enough for the Jazz to keep the lanes wide open. So far in the series, Utah is averaging 123.7 points on 48.8 percent shooting from the field and 38.8 percent from deep.

The Jazz are 26-12 against the spread in their last 38 games after an ATS win.

Betting on the Memphis Grizzlies (+5.5)

Regular Season Record: 38-34

The Grizzlies have to stop the bleeding. One way they can do it is by playing tighter defense. (Duh.) Sure, it’s going to be easier said than done for Memphis, but the Grizzlies can’t just let the Jazz from scoring almost at will, as the Grizzlies don’t appear to have enough weapons to survive a firefight with Utah. However, they have Ja Morant, who’s been a big thorn in the side of the Jazz. Morant is averaging 33.7 points per game on 51.4 percent shooting from the field in the series. He’s getting help from Dillon Brooks as well. Brooks is putting up 27.0 points on 53.1 field goal percentage. If the likes of Jaren Jackson Jr., Desmond Bane, and Grayson Allen could provide even more than what they’re providing on offense and defense, the Grizzlies should make life harder for Utah. Aggressiveness on offense is another key, as the Grizzlies are not getting to the free-throw line a lot, compared to the Jazz.

The Grizzlies are 10-4 against the spread in their last 14 games as an underdog.

Writer’s Prediction

The Jazz win, 123-119.
