Utah needed outside help to get a seat in the 2022 Pac-12 Championship Game. The Utes did their part by crushing the Colorado Buffaloes on the road, 43-21. But wins by the Oregon State Beavers over the Oregon Ducks and the Washington Huskies over the Washington State Cougars have allowed Utah to clinch a spot in the conference’s title game. Unlike other Pac-12 contenders, Utah is the only one that can say it’s gotten the better of USC. Cameron Rising was sensational in the first meeting with the Trojans. Rising passed for 415 yards and two touchdowns with zero picks thrown on 29/43 completions against the Trojans and also led his team with 60 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 11 carries. USC’s defense has looked susceptible a number of times this season. After losing to Utah, the Trojans allowed 72 total points in its next two games against unranked teams, Arizona Wildcats and California Golden Bears.
Utah is 3-1 against the spread in its last four games overall.
Betting on the USC Trojans (-3.0)
Record: 11-1 Overall/8-1 Conference
Caleb Williams shows why he’s a Heisman Trophy candidate with an electric performance over the weekend in USC’s 38-27 home win against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Williams went 18/22 for 232 passing yards and a touchdown with zero interceptions. He also added 35 rushing yards and three touchdowns on nine carries. The Trojans’ offense is lethal with Williams as the main driving force. They entered Week 13 third in the nation with 42.5 points per game and also third in total offense with 506.9 total yards per outing. Williams had five passing touchdowns and zero interceptions on 25/42 completions in USC’s 43-42 road loss to Utah last October. The Trojans were hurt in that game by their 12 penalties to just five by the Utes. That’s not hard to clean up so expect USC to be better in that area this time around.
USC is 3-0 against the spread in its last three games overall.
Writer’s Prediction
USC wins, 37-34.
