Betting on the Vegas Golden Knights (43-30)
Vegas is not a solid form in the final few days of the regular season. Although the Knights are going to the playoffs for the second season in a row, they don’t have much momentum as of the moment, having lost five of their last six games prior to their home finale against the Arizona Diamondbacks this Thursday. Vegas netminder Marc-Andre Fleury has missed plenty of games due to a lower-body injury, but Kings head coach Gerard Gallant is reportedly expecting the veteran goalie to suit up this week. Malcolm Subban has simply been not great between the pipes, so having Fleury back in front of the net will be a shot in the arm for Vegas, which is 10th in the NHL with 2.74 GAA. Fleury is 1-1-1 with a 2.97 GAA in three meetings against Los Angeles this season. He made 17 saves in a 2-0 shutout win over the Kings at home on New Year’s Day.
Vegas is 6-2 in its last eight games against the Kings.
Betting on the Los Angeles Kings (30-41)
A frustrating season is finally going to end for the Kings this Saturday in front of their home crowd. The Kings are arguably the worst team in the NHL this season. The Kings are 30th in the league in offense with 2.40 goals per game, 21st on defense with 3.15 goals allowed per contest. Their special teams aren’t inspiring either, as they rank 26th in power play percentage and 29th in penalty kill percentage. That being said, they have had success against the Knights this season. In fact, they won the first two meetings with Vegas this season. They won the first on the road, 5-1, and the next one at home, 4-3. Fleury may be a solid goaltender, but the Kings has gotten to him. If Fleury ultimately sits out the game this Saturday, then the Kings will have an easier opposing goalie to deal with in the form of Malcolm Subban, who has been a letdown for Vegas of late. While we mentioned how poor the Kings’ power play is, Los Angeles has managed to score at least a goal on the man advantage in three of the last four dates with the Knights.
The Kings are 3-0 in their last three home games.
Writer’s Prediction
Los Angeles wins, 3-2.
