Betting on the Vegas Golden Knights (+1.5)
Vegas relied once again relied heavily on Marc-Andre Fleury’s heroics between the pipes in Game 4, as the veteran goalie turned away 35 of the 37 shots he faced on Friday on his way to earning second-star honors in the game. Fleury will enter Game 5 with a 11-3 record in the playoffs to go with a 1.72 GAA and .945 SV%. And just like in Game 2, when Jonathan Marchessault scored twice, the Golden Knights got major boost from its first line in Game 3 with William Karlsson and Reilly Smith each finding the back of the net once. Karlsson’s goal in the first period was also Vegas’ first since Game 1. Speaking of which, the Golden Knights are only 10th in the playoffs in power play percentage with an 18.4 clip.
Vegas is 5-2 in its last seven road games.
Betting on the Winnipeg Jets (-1.5)
The Jets will have to keep on shooting., While it’s frustrating for Winnipeg to get repeatedly beaten in the series despite outshooting the Golden Knights in all games so far in the series, the Jets have to continue muscling it out on the blue line and getting majority of puck possession. The Jets took 37 shots on goal in Game 3 compared to just 27 by Vegas. Patrik Laine and Tyler Myers scored the only goals of Winnipeg in the game. Connor Hellebuyck, meanwhile, was a letdown for Winnipeg in front of the net, as he allowed three goals on 29 shots faced. The Jets’ first line of Kyle Connor, Mark Scheifele, and Blake Wheeler will have to match the aggressiveness of their Vegas counterparts after going scoreless in Game 4.
The Jets are 7-3 in their last 10 home games.
Writer’s Prediction:
Vegas wins, 3-2.
