Betting on the Washington Huskies (8-3 Overall / 6-2 Conference)
The Huskies are not going to the College Football Playoff, but they could earn a more glamorous bowl game invitation if they could end their regular season campaign with a win against a ranked Washington State squad on the road this coming weekend. The Huskies are coming off a 42-23 win at home over the Oregon State Beavers with quarterback Jake Browning leading the way. Browning went 17-of-23 for 242 passing yards and three touchdowns with zero interceptions. Meanwhile, running back Myles Gaskin let himself loose on the ground, as he manufactured 135 rushing yards and a touchdown on 18 carries. Overall, the Cougars, had 275 rushing yards and two rushing scores. The Huskies didn’t commit a turnover in the Beavers game, but had some special teams miscues, which they will have to fix and clean up heading into Saturday, as they might not have that big room of a room for mistakes against a much tougher Cougars team.
The under is 3-1 in Washington’s last four road games.
Betting on the Washington State Cougars (10-1 Overall / 7-1 Conference)
How about Gardner Minshew? The Cougars’ senior quarterback exploded last Saturday, as he threw for 473 passing yards and seven touchdowns with zero picks in a 69-28 win at home over the Arizona Wildcats. That’s not a typo. Those seven touchdowns are now a school record and we’re about to see this coming weekend whether he’s arm will be just as hot as it was in the Wildcats game, but of course, it’s a reach to expect him to produce the same numbers against Washington’s defense that ranks 13th in the league with only 18.0 points allowed per game. Nevertheless, Washington State is 12th in the league with 28.6 points per game and 15th with 475.3 total yards per contest.
The Cougars are tough to beat when they’re home according to their recent record. They are 10-0 SU and 9-1 ATS in their last 10 home games dating back to 2017.
Writer’s Prediction
Washington wins over Washington State to win the 2018 Apple Cup by a score of 27-24.
