Betting on the Washington Redskins (+4)

Washington finally has momentum. After losing their first two games of the season, the Redskins have stitched together two-straight wins, the latest being a 31-20 victory over Cleveland on Sunday. They now take the road for a showdown with Baltimore. The Redskins are now 4-0 SU and ATS in their last four away games dating back to last season.

Kirk Cousins got out of the gate smoking, as he completed his first nine passes of the game, but slowed down the rest of the way. He did finish with 183 yards on 21 of 27 completions to go with a touchdown though he also threw a pick. Cousins also got help from Matt Jones, who burned rubber for 117 rushing yards and a touchdown. Up against Baltimore’s balanced defense, the Redskins will need just the right blend of air and ground attack in order to keep the Ravens’ stop unit guessing.

Washington has a pretty solid offensive line, one that has limited opponents to only seven sacks on the season, though it showed some cracks against Cleveland, as Cousins was taken down three times for a loss of 27 yards.

Betting on the Baltimore Ravens (-4)

The Ravens are undefeated no more, but  a 3-1 record after four weeks of football is nothing to scoff at. Baltimore eyes a return to winning ways next Sunday, as the Ravens host Washington.

The Ravens, who are 2-1 SU and ATS in their last three home games, lost a close one to Oakland in Week 4, 28-27. Joe Flacco and the Ravens’ offense had a solid form, collecting 412 yards, but the defense was a huge disappointment, especially in the red zone, where the Raiders went 3-for-3. Jordan Reed is Washington’s number one red-zone threat and he’ll have a target on his back with the Ravens among the best in defending against opposing tight ends per Football Outsider’s DVOA metrics.

Baltimore’s running game also projects to have a nice Sunday in Week 4 after racking up 130 rushing yards against Oakland. Washington does have a porous run defense, as it is third worst in the league with 133.0 rushing yards allowed per contest.
