Betting on the Washington Redskins (2-3)
It’s going to be a long while before the Washington Redskins can move on from their heartbreaking 25-19 setback against the undefeated Atlanta Falcons last Sunday.
[sc:NFL240banner ]Having led for most of the game, the Redskins failed to protect a 16-12 advantage in the final minute of the fourth quarter as they allowed DeVonta Freeman, who had 27 carries for a game-high 153 yards, a six-yard scoring run to give the Falcons’ their first taste of the lead. But the Burgundy and Gold provided a response via Dustin Hopkins’ 52-yard field goal to ultimately force overtime.
During the extra period, the Redskins’ hopes of earning its first back-to-back win since the 2014 season were crushed by the Falcons’ cornerback in Robert Alford. Alford delivered the biggest play of the game with a 59-yard interception return for a touchdown to seal the win and help his team improve to a 5-0 record.
The Redskins are now 2-3 on the season and will once again try its best on getting back on track for their impending clash with the New York Jets, who’ll be fresh off their bye week, on Sunday at MetLife Stadium.
That being said, the onus is on the one-two punch of RB Alfred Morris and WR Jamison Crowder to lead the charge in igniting their team’s ground and air attack.
Morris, though, was held to a season-low 15 yards on eight carries but remains to be at the Redskins’ No. 1 option at the running back position and owns a team-high 261 rushing yards while still searching for his first touchdown of the year. Crowder, meanwhile, will continue to get more touches for as long as Jordan Reed remains to be out due to injuries. Crowder has a total of 197 yards on 21 catches in his last three games.
Washington is 0-5 SU and 2-3 ATS in its previous five road games.

Betting on the New York Jets (3-1)
Dominant. That basically summarizes how well the New York Jets performed in their 27-14 victory over the struggling Miami Marlins in Week 4. The Jets piled up the yards, outscoring their division rivals 425-226 total yards to register their third win of the year and the second one at home.
The return of Chris Ivory was a huge reason for this win. Ivory, who was sidelined in Week 3 by a quad injury, wasted no time in making his presence felt by rumbling for a career-best 166 yards on 29 carries with a touchdown to hand the Dolphins their third-straight loss of the season.
Furthermore, quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick also deserved some credit for this win, completing 16 of his 29 passes for 218 yards along with two touchdowns and just one interception during the first of three regular-season games to be played at Wembley, London.
Now moving onto their next game this coming Sunday, the Jets set their sights on sustaining their current momentum when they fly back home and lock horns with the Washington Redskins, who haven’t won a road game this year.
Look to none other than Ivory to build on his performance and capitalize on Redskins’ front seven that allowed a season-high 176 rushing yards in their gut-wrenching loss to the Falcons. In his first three games, the 27-year-old back is averaging a team-best 5.0 yards per carry.
As for the defense, expect the Jets’ cornerbacks in Antonio Cromartie and Darelle Revis to continue making life tough for opposing receivers and ultimately disrupt their opponents’ air game. The two have been the main reasons as to why New York is ranked second-best in the NFL with only 185.5 passing yards allowed per contest.
The Jets are 3-7 SU and 4-6 ATS in their last 10 games at home.
Writer’s Prediction
New York wins, 24-17.
