Betting on the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (5-0)
The Blue Bombers could not have a bigger statement win than the one they had last week, when they completely demolished the Ottawa Redblacks at home to the tune of a 31-1 score. Winnipeg quarterback Matt Nichols was near flawless in that game, as he completed 25 of 29 throws for 295 passing yards and two touchdowns without an interception. He had a field day targeting the pair of Kenny Lawler and Andrew Harris, who had 83 and 68 receiving yards, respectively, and had a touchdown reception apiece. The Tiger-Cats have a stout pass defense, but their ability to stop the run has been in question this season. Look for Winnipeg to exploit Hamilton’s faulty run defense that ranks second worst in the CFL with 240.2 rushing yards allowed per game. Conversely, Winnipeg is second overall with 147.6 rushing yards per contest.
Winnipeg is 3-1 against the spread (ATS) in its last four road games.
Betting on the Hamilton Tiger Cats (4-1)
The Tiger-Cats did not waste much time before finding their groove again after getting their first defeat of the season in a 36-29 road loss to the Montreal Alouettes back in Week 4. In the following game, Hamilton vented its frustration on the Calgary Stampeders and came away with a 30-23 home win in Week 5. Hamilton quarterback Jeremiah Masoli went 25 of 34 for only 192 passing yards to go with two touchdowns and an interception. Wide receiver Brandon Banks, meanwhile, finished the game with 86 receiving yards and two touchdowns on nine catches. Banks will have a target on his back this coming Friday, so he’s going to need Hamilton’s backfield to step up in the ground attack. Defensively, Hamilton’s pass rush will be put to a test against the high-flying offense of Winnipeg, though, the Tiger-Cats seem to have the tools to limit their opponents. For one, they are second in the league with 18.0 sacks on the season.
Hamilton is 4-0 ATS in its last four home games.
Writer’s Prediction
Winnipeg wins and remains undefeated, 30-23.
