Betting on the Xavier Muskeeteers (16-3)
Kerem Kanter made his best impersonation of his big brother, Enes of the New York Knicks, on Wednesday, as the forward pounded out 22 points and plucked down 13 rebounds in an 88-82 win at home againts St. John. Xavier head coach Chris Mack was so impressed of the senior’s performance that he said it “best game in a Xavier uniform.” Kanter could even top that this Saturday against Seton Hall, which gave up 80 points in a loss to Creighton also on Wednesday. Apart from Kanter, Trevon Bluiett is also expected by the No. 11 Musketeers to lead the way for them. The Musketeers want the ball in Bluiett’s hands as much as possible, as he tops the team with 19.4 points per game. Bluiett is on a roll right now, having scored at least 23 points in each of his last two games, so expect him to test his hand on offense early against Seton Hall.
The Musketeers, who are 13th in the nation with 83.1 points per game, are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games after failing to cover the spread in a previous game.
Betting on the Seton Hall Pirates (15-3)
No. 19 Seton Hall sputtered on both ends of the floor in an 80-63 loss against Creighton on Wednesday. The Pirates shot a horrible 38.1 percent from the field with only two players scoring in double figures. Outside of Myles Powell’s 19 points, the Pirates’ starting unit in that game got just 14 points. Desi Rodriguez is Seton Hall’s top scorer, but coughed up with only four points, though he only played for six minutes and got benched in the second half. He has not injury, but the Pirates seemed to be merely intent on resting the senior. Hopefully for the team, Rodriguez will play a whole lot better against the X-Men this Saturday. Rodriguez is ninth in the conference with 17.5 points per game. Rodriguez and the Pirates should see plenty of scoring chances opposite Xavier’s defense that allows 73.4 points per game, which is second worst in the Big 12.
Seton Hall is 10-0 SU in their last 10 games as the home team.
Writer’s Prediction:
Xavier wins, 78-75.
