Yale students know a lot. And based on the performance of its basketball team, it looks like Yale’s players also know how to defend. The Bulldogs are ranked 15th in the nation with a defense that surrenders just 65.3 points per game on an acute 40.8 field goal shooting percentage. They’re also quick to get back on defense with opponents taking just 14.4% of their total shots in transition—13th best in Division I ball. Whether that defense will translate effectively into the national tournament against stiffer competition, however, remains to be seen.

Team Weaknesses:

Yale is still in the process of researching a solution to its free throw shooting woes. The Bulldogs are draining just 66.7% of their shots at the foul line. Moreover, the Bulldogs don’t have a that much range with only 6.4 threes made per game. They shoot 51.1% from inside the arc, but they’re going to need those long bombs to go in to free up space for their slashers and bigs.
