NFL Overview

The National Football League (NFL) is the most popular sport in the United States today owing to its impressive drawing power both in the TV ratings and live game attendance. The NFL currently features 32 teams scattered across two conferences—the American Football Conference (AFC) and the National Football Conference (NFC). Each conference has four divisions with four teams each.

The NFL regular season, which has a total of 256 games or 16 per team, is held from September to January with the postseason scheduled immediately after. The single-elimination playoffs consist of a wild card phase, the divisional playoffs and the conference championship where the winners advance to the championship game called the Super Bowl held in early February.
