NFL 2006 Pro Bowl

Date: February 12, 2006

Venue: Aloha Stadium (Honolulu, Hawaii)

Attendance: 50,190

Result: NFC def. AFC, 23-17

MVP: Derrick Brooks (LB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers)

Recap: After high-scoring Pro Bowl games in the previous six years—the lowest, a total of 55 points scored in 2000; and the highest at 103 in 2004—the 2006 edition returned to a defensive-oriented game which saw a combined 10 turnovers for both teams. There were five interceptions in the first half—Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning had three passes picked off and Atlanta Falcon Michael Vick and Seattle Seahawk Matt Hasselbeck had one each as the teams were tied at 10-apiece at halftime. The NFC took the lead in the third but the AFC responded with a touchdown early in the fourth quarter. Then, Arizona Cardinals kicker Neil Rackers hit a pair of field goals to give the NFC the 23-to-17 advantage. They held on to the lead and the same was the final score as Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Derrick Brooks, who had a key touchdown off an interception in the 3rd,  was named the MVP of the game.
