Recap: With the top defenses in the NFL meeting in Super Bowl IX, everyone predicted a low-scoring affair between the Minnesota Vikings and the Pittsburgh Steelers. It proved true to form as both teams indulged indeed in a low-scoring first half with the Steelers leading at the 2-0 at the break. The Steelers quickly went to work at the start of the second half and scored a touchdown inside the first two minutes off a fumble from the Vikings.
BET ON SPORTSMinnesota threatened in the 4th quarter with a touchdown of its own but it wasn’t enough as the Steelers responded with another TD to put the game away and the final score at 16-to-6. Minnesota was only allowed 119 total yards offense with 17 rushing yards—2nd lowest all time in Super Bowl history. Pittsburgh running back Franco Harris was the Super Bowl IX MVP running for 158 yards on 34 carries.
