Recap: The Washington Redskins were looking for back-to-back Super Bowl wins but the Los Angeles Raiders had other plans and it showed in the first half of Super Bowl XVIII. The Raiders’ scoring onslaught began when Los Angeles blocked a punt and recovered it at the end zone inside the first 5 minutes; they followed it up with 12-yard TD off a three-play, 65-yard at the 9th minute and then with 7 seconds to go before the break, the Raiders intercepted a pass at the Redskin’s 5-yard line and ran for yet another touchdown.


The score was a dominating 21-to-3 at the half and the story of the game remained the same as the Raiders completely annihilated the defending champions to the tune of 38-to-9 final score. Los Angeles running back Marcus Allen was the Super Bowl XVIII MVP rushing for 191 yards on 20 carries with 2 TDs.
