Recap: The Tamps Bay Buccaneers notched their first NFL title in Super Bowl XXXVII beating the Oakland Raiders, 48-to-21. The theme of the game was offense vs. defense as the Raiders, rated #1 in offense were pitted against the Buccaneers, rated #1 in defense.
BET ON SPORTSAt the end of “Pirate Bowl”—the teams’ logos were pirate-related—it was the Buccaneers’ defense which held up as they picked off 5 interceptions off Raiders quarterback Rich Gannon. Three of the interceptions were returned for touchdowns, two of which was by Buccaneers safety Dexter Jackson who was named Super Bowl XXXVII MVP. Buccaneers quarterback Brad Johnson completed 18-of-34 passes for 215 yards and 2 TDs.
