2016 Wimbledon Men’s Quarterfinals Experts Picks and Predictions

Wimbledon-2016_250x130

The last remaining eight are among us at the 2016 rendition of tennis’ third major. This year things are a little different than usual though, as The Joker is watching from the sidelines. He was bounced early by the surprising American Sam Querrey. Now, this could be seen as a negative, because there’s quite a large Djokovic army out there. If you’re looking for entertainment in tennis this year though, the Wimbledon quarters are where you’ll find it. We’ve got a pretty even field with a great mix of up-and-comers, young stars and aging veterans.

Unlike the NBA, as well, the tennis world actually has some parity. You’ll see it in droves in this year’s opening knockout round at the Old England Club. Read ahead for some of the best expert picks in the business.

Expert Prediction(s)
Steve Tignor Roger Federer, Milos Raonic, Andy Murray and Tomas Berdych

Tennis.com’s Steve Tignor likes all of the favorites in this round.

Roger Federer seems to be using his long rest and time off to his advantage. He burned through the first four rounds needing only three sets for each matchup. He will have a decent test though in Marin Cilic. MC is not flashy by any means, although he is a very confident, aggressive and strong player. Not to mention, Marin is seven years younger! Federer has looked great in his quick games thus far, however, a longer game could result in a more tired and weaker Rog. In the meantime though, the big Swiss is -380 to move on to the semis.

Expert Prediction(s)
Timothy Rapp Roger Federer and Andy Murray

Rapp is hell bent on a Federer and Murray final. However, for these two to move on to the next round, Marin Cilic will have to drop his next matchup against the strong yet weathered Federer, while Andy Murray (-1,000) will have to take out Jo-Wilfriend Tsonga. Now that last one is the more realistic of the two. Andy Murray has been on a tear since the start of the tennis year and it’s really just a matter of time for this guy.

He lost in the finals to Novak Djokovic in both the French Open and the Australian Open earlier this year. However, things are turning around for Murray, after his big win over Milos Raonic at the AEGON Championship last month.

Murray is due and he could be a solid pick moving forward. After all, he is favored to win the whole thing.
