Betting on the TCU Horned Frogs 8-2 (-)
The TCU Frogs are hoping to hop back into form after falling at Oklahoma in Week 11 by a score of 38-20. The Frogs took an early 7-3 lead but let things slip and skipped against the spread as a six-point underdog.
On the game TCU wrangled up 424 yards. Prior the game against Oklahoma, TCU had outgained each of their last four opponents, and outrushed each of their last nine.
Currently 5-2 in conference play, with key victories over Oklahoma State and West Virginia, TCU is still in the driver’s seat of their own fate here in 2017 (in regards to the Big 12 championship). If they can win this week and the next (vs Baylor) they are in.
Betting on the Texas Tech 5-5 (+)
Texas Tech ended their four-game losing streak with a 38-24 win over Baylor in Week 11. They claimed an early 7-0 lead when wide receiver Keke Coutee returned the opening kickoff for 92 yards and a TD. From there, they extended the lead to 21-7 at the half. They then proceeded to manage another TD on a a fumble return and ultimately covered the 10-point spread.
On the game, Texas Tech took a licking on the statsheet but because they turned four Bears’ turnovers to their advantage (and a total of 17 points) they pulled off the win and cover.
With a current 5-5 overall record, the Raiders desperately need a win against TCU (or next weekend against Texas) to become bowl eligible.
Writer’s Prediction
Both teams have something on the line here. TCU is the likely victor, especially when you consider that Texas Tech’s two Big 12 wins have come against an abysmal Kansas and Baylor. It is also worth noting that in playing on the road, the Frogs enjoy a somewhat friendlier spread. Pick: Smart money in this meeting takes TCU and gives the points.
