PGA Parlayable Matchups: 2016 Travelers Championship

Recommended Picks

Bubba Watson (-130) over Brooks Koepka (EVEN)

250x130-250FREE-6-16-16

We really shouldn’t underestimate 26-year-old Brooks Koepka, who has five-straight top-15 finishes entering this week’s tournament in River Highlands. However, Koepka has the misfortune of being paired with the reigning and two-time Travelers Championship winner, Bubba Watson, who also happens to be the front-runner to win this week’s tournament with a price of +1,200.

While Watson’s current form hasn’t been as dazzling as that of Koepka’s, Bubba still has one win plus another runner-up finish for the year, and he will be surely driven to become just one of two players in PGA history to win this tournament on more than two occasions.

Aaron Baddeley (-115) over Padraig Harrington (-115)

Three-time major tournament-winner Padraig Harrington has got to be feeling good about himself, as he’s hot off his first top-15 finish since January of this year (T13 at the PGA Championship). Then again, Harrington only has exactly those two top-15 finishes to his credit this entire season.

On the other hand, An underrated Aussie in Aaron Baddeley is quietly building up steam. The 46th-ranked golfer in the FedEx Cup standings has three top-20 finishes over his last four starts, which includes a tremendous victory at the Barbasol Championship just a couple of weeks ago.

That being said, expect the upstart from Down Under to prevail over the experienced yet underachieving Irishman in this week’s tournament.

Matt Kuchar (-125) over Paul Casey (-105)

Finding consistency is tough in the PGA Tour; just ask Paul Casey. The Englishman ended up tied for 10th at the PGA Championship this past week and had a T16 finish at WGC-Bridgestone this past July, but he’s also been cut from three of his last five starts as well.

As for Florida native Matt Kuchar, he’s just glad that the four major tournaments are behind him. He nabbed a pair of disappointing T46 finishes at the U.S. and British Opens before being cut from Baltusrol last weekend.

However, when it comes to non-major tournaments, Kuchar is quite a beast. He currently owns a six-start streak of top-10 finishes for such tourneys dating back to mid-May, with three of them being third-place finishes at that. Seeing that the Travelers Championship is no major, you can count on World No. 20 Kuchar to at least perform better this week than Casey in their head-to-head matchup.
