2016 WGC-Cadillac Championship Experts Picks and Predictions
ProGolfNow
Sam Belden has made his pick and it is Bubba Watson who he believes will win the WGC-Cadillac Championship this year. What makes Watson such a good pick in his eyes is his excellent record here at Doral. The two-time Masters champion has finished in the top three at the Blue Monster every year since its redesign. Watson tied for second in 2014 and notched a solo third finish last year.In addition to that, Watson is in a rich vein of form right now. He captured the Northern Trust Open in his most recent start and has found the top 15 in six of his last seven events dating back to last November. With the form that he is in right now and his experience with this golf course, Watson has an excellent chance of grabbing back-to-back PGA Tour titles this weekend.
U.S. Golf TV
Troy Klongerbo of U.S. Golf TV is firm in his belief that Justin Rose will win the WGC-Cadillac Championship this year. He has been playing some solid golf of late, grabbing top-20 finishes in his last two PGA Tour starts. In fact, he hit the 60s in six of his past eight rounds. Rose is currently in the top-20 in driving distance and top-10 in strokes gained total. The 35-year-old has had some success in this tournament in the past as well, grabbing the championship back in 2012.
That being said, it won’t be smooth sailing for Rose this coming weekend. The one man who Klongerbo thinks will pose a major threat to Rose this week is Dustin Johnson. He loves playing in this event as evidenced by his three top-4s in his previous five starts here at Doral. What makes Johnson such a huge threat in this event is his incredible power off the tee. He’s seventh in the PGA Tour in driving distance, averaging 308.7 yards per drive this season. That powerful swing will come in handy when tackling the long 7,543-yard, par-72 Blue Monster course.
