2016 Wimbledon Women’s Singles Sleeper Picks

Timea Bacsinszky (+4,000)
Timea Bacsinszky’s is arguably the most intriguing sleeper to watch out for. She marches into London having made three quarterfinal appearances in the previous five major tournaments. That stretch includes one at Roland Garros and in last year’s Wimbledon, where she defeated the likes of Sabin Lisicki and Monica Niculescu before finally falling to Garbine Muguruza (+500), who is also set to compete in next week’s event.
Johanna Konta (+5,000)
Despite having yet to make it past the first round at Wimbledon, Johanna Konta should be able to reel off some victories or upsets and could probably even make it deep into the tournament this time around. The 25-year-old pro, who was born in Australia but officially became a British citizen four years ago, will likely have a loud All England Club crowd on her side. Konta also currently ranks No. 18 in the WTA rankings, which is a career-best.
Coco Vandeweghe (+6,600)
Finally, there’s Coco Vandeweghe. She’s strong and boasts a pretty fearsome serve that could cause some problems to a number of opponents. But what’s more interesting about her is the fact that she’s had the most success on grass. Both of the 24-year-old American’s WTA titles came at the Rosmalen Grass Court Championships in Netherland, one of which concluded just a couple of weeks ago.
Also, Vandeweghe, who has won eight of her nine grass-court matches this season, will be looking to repeat or better her quarterfinal appearance at Wimbledon last year. She might just be able to do it again as long as she remains confident and ends up falling in a favorable draw.
