Betting on the Northwestern Wildcats (23-10, 10-8 Big Ten)
No. 6 seed Northwestern advanced into the semifinals of the Big Ten tourney after getting an upset over third-seeded and 25th-ranked Maryland in the quarterfinal, 72-64.
The Wildcats blew things wide open in the second half, where they outscored the Terps 37-25 and eventually finished the game with a collective 55.3 field goal percentage, including 46.7 percent from the three-point line.
Vic Law, Scottie Lindsey and Bryant McIntosh led Northwestern with 50 points combined—17 of which came from Law who’s now scored in double figures in three of his last four games. The Wildcats are going to have to find a way to stay hot against a solid Wisconsin defense, and also stop being overly careless with the rock. They had 16 turnovers against Maryland.
Chris Collins’ troops have now won three of their last four games overall (3-1 ATS).
Betting on the Wisconsin Badgers (24-8, 12-6 Big Ten)
Second-seeded Wisconsin turned it up defensively on Friday night to advance to the semifinals of the Big Ten tournament, holding off an Indiana offense that averages 80 points per game to 60 points on 41.2% shooting and forcing the Hoosiers to 12 turnovers.
At the same time, that great defensive effort led to a productive offensive night for the Badgers, who had five players score in double-digits. Bronson Koenig led the way with 16 points and five assists, while Ethan Happ took care of business inside with a double-double—14 points, 12 rebounds.
The Badgers should find themselves in the conference championship as long as that kind of defense shows up again. But take note that the team lost to at home to the Northwestern, 59-66, during which the Wisconsin couldn’t contain Bryant McIntosh, who torched them with 25 points, and had too many unnecessary mistakes (12 TOs).
Wisconsin, which carries the 10th-best scoring defense in the nation, is 5-5 SU and 3-7 ATS in its last 10 games overall.
