Betting on the Dayton Flyers (+6)

Dayton employs an offense that loves to move the ball around (15.7 APG), shoot threes (38.7%) and one that is anchored by three senior starters—Charles Cooke, Kendall Pollard and Scoochie Smith.

Cooke leads the team in points with 16.1 per contest, while Pollard and Smith are pretty close with 14.1 and 13.5, respectively. And besides the amount of scoring that they bring, they also carry with them something arguably far more important: experience.

That accumulated experience will play a major factor for the Flyers, who are making their fourth-straight trip to the NCAA Tournament. They’re in for an unfavorable matchup with a red-hot Wichita State side, but Dayton can—and will—put up a close fight in any case.

The Flyers are 4-2 SU and 4-1-1 ATS in their last 10 games as the underdog. They are also priced at +15,000 to win the national title.

Betting on the Wichita State Shockers (-6)

The Shockers have played close-to-perfect basketball this season. In the Missouri Valley Conference alone, they topped all team in points, boards, assists, field goals, field goal percentage, three-pointers and margin of victory, while also turning the ball over just 11.1 times, among the lowest in the nation.

On the defensive end, they’re a nightmare matchup for anyone as well. Wichita State, this year’s MVC tournament champs, is limiting opponents to an effective field goal percentage of 43.9, per teamrankings.com.

Markis McDuffie (11.8 PPG), Landry Shamet (11.1 PPG) and Darral Willis Jr. (10.2 PPG) lead the all-around attack for the Shockers, who have won 15 in a row since losing to Illinois State in January (11-4 ATS).

No wonder Wichita State is an attractive sleeper pick (+7,000) to win the national championship.
