Having Clayton Kershaw on the mound is a luxury the Dodgers get every five days. And tonight, the LA see the strikeout machine pitch again, as Kershaw gets the ball for the finale of this three-game series against the Mets.

Kershaw has been plain ridiculous this season. He enters tonight’s game carrying a 7-1 record and a 1.48 ERA in 10 starts. HIs latest masterpiece was a complete-game shutout of the Reds in a 1-0 win at home on May 23. Kershaw allowed just two hits and a walk, while striking out nine batters. To put into perspective how locked in Kershaw is thus far this season, that Cincinnati game was the first time in seven starts that the lefty didn’t record double-digit strikeouts.

Kershaw must feel great knowing he’ll get another start in Citi Field, where’s he’s been dominant in past visits there. Kershaw is 3-0 with a Kershaw-nesque 1.01 ERA and 0.90 WHIP in four starts in Flushing.

Furthermore, he pitched a 5-0 shutout win at home over the Mets on May 12, striking out 12 and issuing just one walk.

Dodgers hitters of course can’ take Kershaw for granted, as they still need to produce runs.

Adrian Gonzalez is a prime candidate to deliver at the plate, considering his past success against Bartolo Colon. Gonzalez is 12-for-27 (.444) with two homers in his career against Colon.

Bartolo Colon pitching

Bartolo Colon is a gift that just keeps on giving for the Mets—and for all baseball fans as well. The beer-bellied hurler proved he still got it when he delivered a solid performance on May 23, pitching for 7.1 innings and allowing just one earned run in a 7-1 road victory over Washington. He struck out just two Nationals but did a good job of taking away Washington’s power by limiting the Nationals to only five singles. That’s more or less the kind of performance Colon is looking to dish out in his second start against the Dodgers.

Colon was tagged with five earned runs on seven hits in just five innings of the aforementioned 5-0 loss in Dodger Stadium earlier this month.

Obviously, Colon didn’t get the run support he needed in that game so he’ll be expecting his teammates to pony up this time around. That’s easier said than done against Kershaw, but the Mets have to find a way to solve the Dodgers’ ace.

Asdrubal Cabrera is just 2-for-7 (.286) lifetime against Kershaw, but he’s batting .318 (14-for-44) with three doubles against southpaws this season. Yoenis Cespedes, meanwhile, is hitting .414 (13-for-38) with four taters and eight RBIs this year against lefty pitchers.

The over is 3-1 in Colon’s last four starts.
