All eyes will be on Gio Gonzalez (3-4, 3.94 ERA), who’s set to make his 12th star of the season for the Washington Nationals. The main theme for the veteran pitcher in tonight’s game is redemption.

Gonzalez has struggled in his last three starts, which all resulted into losses for him and the Nats. During that losing stretch, he’s given up a total of 25 hits and 18 earned runs across 15 2/3 innings. There’s no question that the 30-year-old lefty’s going to play with a lot of desperation and maybe a little bit of pressure later.

Well, in the case that Gonzalez does end up being rocked again, a lot of responsibility falls on Washington’s offense (4.45 runs per game this season) to provide the goods at the plate. That being said, look to the pairing of Daniel Murphy and Bryce Harper to start lighting the fireworks.

Murphy, who leads the Nats in batting (.376), hits (82) and OBP (.415), owns a solid triple-slash line of .357/.397/.635 on the road this season. Harper, meanwhile, boasts team-highs of 13 homers and 38 RBIS. He’s also a career .467 batter against the White Sox.

Washington is 7-3 SU in its last 10 road games. The Nats are also priced at +1,000 to win the World Series this year.

Betting on the Chicago White Sox (29-30)

As for the Chicago White Sox, getting the nod for them will be Miguel Gonzalez (0-1, 3.93 ERA). He’ll be making a sport start, as supposed starter Carlos Rodon is dealing with some neck soreness. This marks just Gonzalez’s sixth start this season.

The 32-year-old right-hander was pretty solid in his last start against the Mets on June 1. In that game, he pitched for five innings of one-run ball and delivered four strike outs despite notching the no-decision. Gonzalez will definitely be trying to replicate that effort.

Over on offense, expect Melky Cabrera to get things going. He’s been carrying a hot bat lately, going 7-for-19 with a double and one RBI in the previous five games. Cabrera, though, is 3-for-15 lifetime against the Nats’ starter in Gio Gonzalez.

Chicago is 3-7 SU in its previous 10 home games. The White Sox are also priced at +275 to emerge atop of the AL Central division.

Writer’s Prediction
