Top Available Unrestricted Free Agent Small Forwards

The 2016 NBA Free Agency period is just around the corner. To be exact, it’s only a week away before teams can start spending millions of dollars in retaining or getting the best players available. And speaking of which, Kevin Durant is arguably at the top of everyone’s list.

But besides Durant, there are still several names out there worth going after. Having that said, read on below at our top-five unrestricted free agents list for the small forward position.

Top Five Unrestricted Free Agent Small Forwards

1. Kevin Durant

Expected Salary: Max

2015-2016 Stats: 28.2 PPG, 8.2 RPG, 5.0 APG

NBA-news-banner-250x130_v3

Signing Kevin Durant, who’s still in his prime, would be extremely huge for any organization. He’s undoubtedly one of the most lethal scoring machines in the league today, and his career averages of 27.4 PPG, 7.0 RPG and 3.7 APG should be more than enough to prove this.

And if for some strange reason you’re still not impressed by those ridiculous numbers, don’t forget that Durant was also the league MVP back in 2013-14 season.

2. LeBron James

Expected Salary: Max

2015-2016 Stats: 25.3 PPG, 7.4 RPG, 6.8 APG

LeBron James is not going anywhere. He just brought the Cleveland Cavaliers their very first Larry O’Brien Trophy at the expense of the Golden State Warriors. You can expect him to immediately agree to a new contract with the Cavs, and already start preparing for (hopefully) another championship run next season.

3. Nicolas Batum

Expected Salary: $15-20 million

2015-2016 Stats: 14.9 PPG, 6.1 RPG, 5.8 APG

Nicolas Batum is one of those rare all-round role players remaining out there. He’s coming off a solid bounce-back 2015-16 season with the Charlotte Bobcats, and there’s no question that almost any team in need of some versatility and length in its front court would love to acquire his talents.

4. Chandler Parsons

Expected Salary: $10-15 million

2015-2016 Stats: 13.7 PPG, 4.7 RPG, 2.8 APG

Chandler Parsons’ days with the Dallas Mavericks could be coming to an end. Yes, he played well across two seasons in Dallas, piling up almost 15 points per game, but both those years ended with a knee injury.

Still, it’s quite evident that Parsons still has a lot to offer at a spry age of 27 years old. He can efficiently knock down shots from almost any spot on the floor, and can slither his way towards the rim from time to time. It would be surprising to not see him garner a bunch of offers from several teams.

5. Luol Deng

Expected Salary: $10-12 million

2015-2016 Stats: 12.3 PPG, 6.0 RPG, 1.9 APG

Luol Deng’s already past his prime, but can still be very effective. He’s a good plan B or C for teams looking to add some toughness and a solid veteran presence that can shoot, rebound and defend. Plus, Deng’s also managed to stay healthy for the past two seasons.
