Offensive Edge – NYCFC (+310)

New York City FC has the undoubted edge on offense. NYCFC has the league’s top marksman, David Villa, who has 12 goals this season. He’s been in great form of late, scoring four goals in his last five games. Meanwhile, Frank Lampard has two in his last three. With Villa, Lampard, and Italian maestro Andrea Pirlo all playing much better this season after last season’s fiasco, NYCFC leads the Eastern Conference in scoring with 29 goals.

New England can’t quite boast the same amount of attacking talent. Lee Nguyen leads the team with just four goals. Striker Charlie Davies has just one goal in eight appearances, while Kei Kamara has two goals in six. However, the Revs have been much better on offense recently despite suffering back-to-back away defeats. They’ve now scored at least two goals in seven of their last eight games.

Defensive Edge – NYCFC (+310)

New York has the worst defense in the East, giving up 31 goals in 18 games. But the Revs’ defense hasn’t been much better, surrendering the same 31 goals in 19 games.

Based on current form, though, NYCFC has the edge. They’ve kept back-to-back clean sheets for the first time this season after beating both Seattle (on the road) and city rival New York Red Bulls (at home) by a 2-0 scoreline.

On the other side, the Revs have managed to keep a clean sheet just once in their last 12 games. However, their defense has held up well enough at home. They’ve lost just once in eight home games, with three wins and four draws.

Writer’s Predictions: New York (+310) extends its win streak with a 3-1 road win over the Revs.
