Pitching Edge – Los Angeles Angels

Jered Weaver (7-7, 5.27 ERA) has had his fair share of struggles this season. He did, however, enter the All-Star break on a strong note, logging in six innings of one-run ball to lead the Angels towards the 7-2 victory over the Rays. And more importantly, an even better performance from the veteran could happen later today against the White Sox. Weaver is 11-2 with a spectacular 1.94 ERA across 14 career starts in that matchup.

The Halos are just 1-4 SU in Weaver’s last five starts. They are also priced at +10,000 to win the American League pennant this year.

Batting Edge – Los Angeles Angels

Don’t be fooled by the Angels’ current record of 39-52, which is good for fifth place in the AL West division. They have enough ingredients to compete against any club this year, and it’s only a matter of time before they finally start lighting it up on a consistent basis.

Speaking of which, that’s precisely what the pair of Yunel Escobar (.320) and Mike Trout (.316) have been doing at the plate. Those two lead the Halos in batting, and are poised to keep it going in today’s series finale with the White Sox.

Escobar, who is hitting .315 at home this season, heads into this game having gone 17-for-44 with eight RBIs, three doubles and one triple in his last 10 games. Trout, meanwhile, boasts a team-best of 18 homers and is 2-for-2 lifetime off the White Sox’s starter in Jacob Turner.
