Betting on the New York Giants (-7)

Down 16-9 at the end of the two quarters, the Giants rallied back in the second half to beat the injury-riddled Bears on Sunday, 22-16.

Eli Manning went 21-of-36, finishing with 227 yards and two touchdowns, one of which was a tie-breaking score to Sterling Shepard in the third period. The win handed New York its fifth-straight win—its longest winning run since the 2010 season.

The Giants are expected to extend that streak to six in a matchup with the miserable, winless Browns this weekend. That game will be on the road, but it won’t make a difference considering how almost nothing is going right with Cleveland, which ranks among the worst in the league total offense (311.1 YPG) and defense (409.5 YPG).

Manning should easily find his go-to targets Odell Beckham Jr., Shepard and Will Tye to ignite their passing game. Meanwhile, this is also going to be another good opportunity for them to garner some success on the ground with Rashad Jennings, who rushed 21 times for 85 yards against Chicago.

New York is 2-3 SU and 1-2-2 ATS in its last five road games.

Betting on the Cleveland Browns (-7)

There is still hope for the Browns to get their first win of the season. Three teams—the 1975 Chargers, 1984 Bills and 2000 Chargers—previously went 0-11 before finally winning a game.

Cleveland can add its name there with a victory over the streaking Giants. The Browns, who are coming off a 24-9 loss to the Steelers on Sunday, will be at home here, giving us at least a reason to expect a relatively competitive game, or if we’re being over-optimistic, a win.

The Browns are going to have play without Cody Kessler, though. He left with a concussion—the second time this season—during the third period versus Pittsburgh, and Josh McCown replaced him and finished with 118 yards and a TD.

Well, the Browns are used to this situation already, but it doesn’t help them in any way. This lack of protection (3.0 sacks allowed per game) is one of the main reasons why they’re still winless. And that could still be the case this weekend if McCown gets constantly hit by the opposing defense.

Cleveland defeated the Giants in its last meeting at FirstEnergy Stadium.

Writer’s Prediction

Giants (-7) win, 31-23.
