Betting on the Denver Broncos (TBA)
Go ahead and give the Broncos the Crying Jordan treatment. Denver was on the receiving end of a bizarre 30-27 overtime loss on Sunday, when Chiefs kicker Cairo Santos hit a game-winning field goal attempt that caromed off the left upright before going in.
Despite the loss, it was undeniable that Trevor Siemian had a great outing, passing for 368 yards and three touchdowns without a turnover on 20 of 34 completions. Siemian could’ve done even more had the Broncos’ offensive line not allow him to be sacked five times. However, that was against Kansas City’s elite top pass rush unit, something Jacksonville doesn’t have. The Jags are dead-last in the NFL in sacks.
That said, the Broncos would likely run the ball more in this game, as the Jags’ defense is just 24th against the run.
Denver sacked Alex Smith six times, which must send shivers down the spine of Jaguars QB Blake Bortles, who is being protected by a flimsy offensive line that allowed 25 sacks on the season.
Denver is 3-2 ATS in its last five road games.
Betting on the Jacksonville Jaguars (TBA)
The Jaguars went to Losersville once again after they absorbed a 28-21 defeat to Buffalo on Sunday. It was the Jags’ sixth straight setback, a streak they’d like to end at home against Denver. The Jaguars are 3-2 ATS in their last five games at home.
Blake Bortles had 126 passing yards and two touchdowns on 13 of 26 completions. He didn’t throw an interception, though, which was a surprise considering he threw 12 over the previous nine games. Hopefully for the Jags, Bortles won’t mess up next Sunday, though that’s something easier said than done against Denver’s defense that ranks eighth in interceptions and fifth in sacks.
Over at the other side of the ball, the Jags have the peculiar trend of limiting opponents to low number of total yards but are 26th overall in scoring defense with 26.6 points surrendered per contest.
