Betting on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+3.5)
Jameis Winston located Mike Evans for a pair of touchdowns, while the Tampa Bay defense stood its ground against a struggling Seattle offense and the Bucs eventually earned their third-consecutive win on Sunday, improving to 6-5 on the season.
The Bucs are right back in the playoff picture, and are now just one game behind Atlanta for the division lead in the NFC South. Winston’s been delivering the goods for Tampa Bay, as the former Heisman Trophy winner has passed for five touchdowns in the last three games, including an error-free game in a huge road win at Kansas City in Week 11.
Defensively, the Bucs have been locked-in in the same stretch, restricting their last three opponents below 300 offensive yards and 20 points. But can Winston and co. sustain their momentum in this weekend’s road game with the Chargers, who have won three of their last four home games and are nearly averaging 30 points a game this season?
Tampa Bay is 4-1 SU and ATS in its last five road games.
Betting on the San Diego Chargers (-3.5)
San Diego’s back in the win column after ending Houston’s unbeaten home record on Sunday, 21-13.
Philip Rivers completed 22 of his 30 throws, finishing with 242 yards and three touchdown passes—each to a different receiver. His favorite target Tyrell Williams corralled eight passes for 70 yards and a score before leaving the game in fourth period with a shoulder injury.
Dontrelle Inman, meanwhile, exploded secured all of his six targets for a game-high 119 yards and touchdown, which marked his second 100-yard game of the year. He should see more passes coming his way in the case that Williams’ injury forces him to miss some time.
On the ground, RB Melvin Gordon had a solid outing against the Texans, rushing for 70 yard on 17 carries. He didn’t find the end zone for the second-straight game, but you can expect him to do so versus the Buccaneers, who have surrendered a total of nine running touchdowns and 20 scores on the air. Gordon has a pair of receiving TDs this season.
The Chargers are 3-2 SU and ATS in its last five games overall.
Writer’s Prediction
Tampa Bay (+3.5) keeps it going, beating the Chargers on their own turf, 29-27.
