Betting on the Kentucky Wildcats (21-5, 11-2 SEC)

Point Spread: -7.5

With a three-game win streak capped off by a massive 83-58 revenge victory over the Tennessee Volunteers on Tuesday, the No. 13 Kentucky Wildcats find themselves tied once more with the Florida Gators for the SEC conference lead.

Star guard Malik Monk finished with 20 points and a career-high eight rebounds in Tuesday’s win, as he and fellow teammate Derek Willis combined for eight three-pointers made in the contest. Kentucky hit 11 shots from downtown against the Vols, marking the first time in nearly a month that the team made 10 or more three’s in a game.

It appears as if the Wildcats, who are fourth in the nation and tops in the conference with 89.1 points scored per game, haven’t slowed down on offense whatsoever.

That’s a good sign heading into Athens this weekend as they’ll look to continue their dominance over Georgia. They’ve won seven-straight meetings against the Bulldogs (4-3 ATS), counting their 90-81 overtime victory at home over their conference rivals back in January 31.

Betting on the Georgia Bulldogs (15-11, 6-7 SEC)

Point Spread: +7.5

Staying alive in the hunt for a berth in the Big Dance are the Georgia Bulldogs, who’ve now reeled of back-to-back victories with a 79-72 win over the other Bulldogs of Missisippi State on Tuesday, 79-72.

Senior J.J. Frazier lit up Mississipi State in the second half of Tuesday’s match, scoring all 17 of his points during that final stretch of the game. Standout forward Yante Maten finished with 24 points and nine boards himself, as he now ranks third in the SEC in scoring at 19.4 points per contest.

But for as sound as Georgia’s stars have been performing, the entire team has yet to figure out how to consistently win games away from home. The Bulldogs may have eked out a tense 76-75 win at Tennessee last Saturday, but the fact remains that they’re still 1-4 over their last five road contests. On the bright side, they managed to cover the spread in all five of those bouts.

Considering that the Wildcats aren’t necessarily making minced meat of their opponents at home lately, perhaps Georgia will put up another strong fight against their conference foes – only to be handed another heartbreaking defeat to a much better program this season.

Writer’s Prediction

The Wildcats extend their win streak to four games, 79-75, but the Bulldogs still manage to cover the +7.5 spread.
