Texas Southern Tigers – March Madness Team Predictions, Odds and Preview 2017

Texas Southern Tigers (Overall: 20-11, Conf: 16-2)

College Basketball News and Previews

Team Strengths:

After winning the SWAC tournament, what’s there to stop Texas Southern? Uhm, maybe North Carolina in the first round? Even though the odds are stacked against the Tigers to win their NCAA Tournament opener, don’t expect them to show up in awe of the quality of their opponent. After all, they’ve had a tough regular season schedule that featured match up against the likes of Arizona, Louisville, Baylor, and two other Top 50 RPI programs.  They lost all those games but a nine-game win streak heading into the Big Dance combined with the experience against topnotch programs should earn the Tigers at least a speculative look.

Team Weaknesses:

It’s going to be hard for Texas Southern to upset foes in the tournament if it continues to shoot from the three-point area like they’ve done in the regular season, when they made just 29.7 percent of their shots from deep. Opponents would likely just pack the paint and tempt the Tigers to take three-point attempts that even they could be hesitant on taking. Even their two-point jumpers reek, as they are 332nd overall on those attempts with a pathetic 29.6% clip.

Team Stats:
