Betting on the Baylor Bears (odds)
Record: 14-0 Overall / 2-0 Conference
Baylor is surely not having any championship hangover. This team just can’t stop winning games. The reigning national champions collected their 14th win in a row to start the season by downing the Oklahoma Sooners at home last Tuesday, 84-74. Before that, Baylor victimized No. 8 Iowa State Cyclones on the road, 77-72. Scott Drew’s team is winning on the strength of almost the same formula that propelled the Bears to success a season ago. So far this campaign, the Bears are fourth in the nation in adjusted offensive efficiency with 118.4 points per 100 possessions and seventh in adjusted defensive efficiency with opponents scoring only 88.5 points per 100 possessions. Baylor hasn’t been as deadly from deep this time as last season, but the Bears are still 13th in the nation with a 56.0 effective field goal percentage.
Baylor is 8-4-1 against the spread this season in games after a win.
Betting on the TCU Horned Frogs (odds)
Record: 10-1 Overall / 0-0 Conference
The Horned Frogs haven’t played in a while due to COVID-19 issues but assuming those have been resolved, then TCU will be parading a well-rested unit this Saturday at home against the visiting Bears. Prior to the canceled game against the Texas Southern Tigers and the postponed contest against the Wes Virginia Mountaineers, the Horned Frogs were enjoying a seven-game streak, which they will look to extend on Saturday. The last time they were on the floor, the Horned Frogs defeated the Grambling Tigers, 90-55. TCU hasn’t faced a ranked team so far this season, so the Baylor game will be a big test for the Horned Frogs, who will be looking to flex their muscles on the glass. TCU is fourth in Division 1 basketball with 43.7 rebounds per game and No. 1 overall with a 40.9 offensive rebounding percentage.
TCU is 5-4-2 against the spread so far this season.
Writer’s Prediction
Baylor wins, 76-67.
