Betting on the Ottawa Senators (+1.5)

Moneyline: +150

The Ottawa Senators were unable to close out the series at home as they fell 3-2 to the Bruins in Game 5 in double-overtime. However, the Sens shouldn’t have too many complaints about trying to close out in Boston. Ottawa has won five games in a row and seven of its last eight at the TD Garden.

Bobby Ryan was the hero in Games 3 and 4 as he got the winning goal in both games. He, Derick Brassard, and Erik Karlsson have done the heavy lifting for the Sens in this series. Brassard extended his point streak to four consecutive games with another assist. Meanwhile, Karlsson had his streak of seven straight games with at least a point snapped in Game 5.

Despite the loss, Sens goalie Craig Anderson had another strong game in Game 5 with 36 saves on 39 shots. That’s a decent follow-up to his 22-save shutout in Game 4. Anderson continues his very good success against the Bruins. Ottawa is 12-4 in his last 16 games against Boston.

Betting on the Boston Bruins (-1.5)

Moneyline: -170

The Boston Bruins are still alive thanks to the heroics of Sean Kuraly. The rookie, who is only playing due to the Bruins’ many injuries, came up with two huge goals, including the overtime game-winner, to give the Bruins a big 3-2 victory in Game 5.

Of course, the Bruins were even in a position to steal Game 5 on the road because goalie Tuukka Rask was immense. The Bruins netminder stopped 41 of the Senators’ 43 shots in 90 minutes of action. That’s now two top performances in a row for Rask, who also stopped 26 of 27 shots in Game 4, but still took the narrow 1-0 loss.

The Bruins will need some more heroics from the likes of Kuraly and Rask with their injury situation not getting any better. Three of their top four blueliners remain out injured. Meanwhile, David Krejci did not return after suffering a lower-body injury in Game 4, and is a doubt to suit up for Game 5.

Writer’s Prediction

The Senators (+150) close out the Bruins in Boston, 3-2.
