Betting on West Bromwich Albion (+670)
It’s been incredible how much West Brom have taken their foot off the gas during the tail-end of the season. Since beating Bournemouth on Feb. 25 to reach 40 points and essentially secure safety, the Baggies have bagged just five points in their last nine games (one win, two draws, six losses).
They had lost four games in a row before drawing 2-2 at Burnley. Salomon Rondon’s goal snapped a goalless drought that lasted five games.
West Brom have been much better at home this season, going 9-2-7. However, they’ve lost their last three home games in a row—against Southampton, Liverpool, and Leicester—all by a 1-0 scoreline.
Although, Chris Brunt has warned Chelsea that West Brom will give the champions-elect a tough fight. The Baggies have actually given the Blues some trouble over the past few years. They had gone undefeated in their last four home games against Chelsea (three wins and a draw) prior to losing last year’s meeting.
Betting on Chelsea (-327)
Chelsea are so close. They’re now just three points away from securing their second Premier League title in three years and a maiden title for first-year manager Antonio Conte.
Their loss to Manchester United has been the wake-up call they needed to rediscover their dominance. Since that loss, they beat Tottenham 4-2 in the FA Cup; beat Southampton 4-2 in the league; and got back-to-back 3-0 wins over Everton and Middlesbrough. The two clean sheets were Chelsea’s first since January.
Chelsea were still able to dominate against Boro despite missing star midfielder N’Golo Kante due to a minor injury, but he should be set to make a return to the starting line-up. Willian could also get the start over Pedro.
As mentioned earlier, Chelsea haven’t had the greatest record at the Hawthorns recently. However, they will be the much more motivated team than West Brom with the title within reach. And even if West Brom bring their A-game, Chelsea should still have enough quality to overcome the Baggies.
Writer’s Prediction
Chelsea (-327) don’t mess around as they clinch the title with an easy 2-0 win.
