Betting on the Oklahoma State Cowboys

Point Spread: +14.5

After just two weeks of play, the Cowboys are again becoming one of the most entertaining football teams in the nation. They are now 2-0 following their 44-7 demolition of South Alabama, and are winning by an average of 36 points.

Such domination, as you might have expected, involves an excellent play at the quarterback position. Mason Rudolph has been nothing short of prolific in both victories, averaging 334 passing yards and completing 72.6 percent of his passes, while also having a squeaky-clean 6-0 touchdown-interception ratio.

The QB’s favourite target, James Washington, is right up there with him in terms of putting up big time numbers. The senior receiver, who could be on his way to be a first-round pick in the next NFL draft, already has 243 yards and three TD grabs in just eight receptions (30.4 yards per catch) this season.

Helping Rudolph, Washington, and the entire passing game be as elusive is sophomore running back Justice Hill. He had over 1,100 rushing yards in 2016, and he is posting 79.5 yards on 6.1 yards per carry this year.

Their defensive unit are not to be outdone. The group only gives up 15.5 points and 161 passing yards per game, with the front seven also being responsible for majority of the team’s 18 tackles for loss on the season.

Dating back to the 2015 season, Oklahoma State is 8-2 in its last 10 games on the road (7-3 ATS).

Betting on the Pittsburgh Panthers

Point Spread: +14.5

The Panthers split their first two games. They failed to provide a follow-up on their tight win over Youngstown State in Week 1, as they bowed to Penn State over the weekend, 33-14.

With an up-and-down first two games, it’s almost an automatic that the players’ numbers are in the same mediocre vein.

On offense, Pitt’s man under center, Max Browne, is a combined 36-for-56 for 278 yards, with a 1-2 TD-INT ratio. No one in his receiving corps averages more than 11 yards per catch, and running back Qadree Ollison is currently the team’s co-leader in receptions, with seven. He and Jester Weah, who’s the only Panther that has scored a receiving TD this season, share the lead. Ollison has 187 yards and two rushing scores on 5.1 yards per carry on the year.

The defense, meanwhile, only has two total sacks despite having been able to reach the opposing QB 10 times. They are giving up 127.5 rushing yards per game on 5.1 yards per carry, and have allowed seven total TDs.

Pitt has won seven of its last eight games at home, but are only 2-6 ATS.
